Here&#8217;s the Proven Fix (2026)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See the steps below to fix Gmail in Outlook classic during Setup:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Press Windows + S, type Credential Manager, and open it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click Windows Credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scroll to Generic Credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find entries starting with MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expand each entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hover over MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2 to see the full name containing tp_google_imap_Oauth2 (these are Gmail credentials).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click Remove for each MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2 entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove both credentials for the affected Gmail account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Optional: To identify the correct Gmail account before deleting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Open Registry Editor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paste this path in the address bar:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Computer\\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Office\\16.0\\Common\\Identity\\Identities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the Identity subkeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number at the beginning of the identity key matches the number in the MicrosoftOffice16_Data credential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After removing the credentials:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open Outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to the affected profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click Sign in via browser in the Outlook notification bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sign in to your Gmail account again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove access for Microsoft Apps &amp; Services in Gmail (Fix Gmail in Outlook Sync)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Close Outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*May not be needed*<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to google.com and sign in to your Google account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click your profile picture in the top-right corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select Manage your Google Account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the left menu, click Security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scroll to Your connections to third-party apps &amp; services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select Microsoft apps &amp; services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find Microsoft apps &amp; services has some access to your Google Account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click See details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under Access you\u2019ve given to Microsoft apps &amp; services, click Remove all access.
